America in Bloom A not-for-profit, volunteer organization that fosters community pride through a national beautification competition. Communities compete with others their population size in eight categories: tidiness, environmental factors, community involvement, heritage, urban forestry, landscape areas, floral display, and turf and groundcover areas. Indianapolis won in the 500,001 to 1 million category in 2003. Winners are precluded from participating the next year. Greenfield, Indiana, participated in the 10,001 to 15,000 population category. www.americainbloom.org
